Reconnecting the past. Preserving the present. Empowering the future.
We are committed to preserving the unique stories of the Black diaspora, especially those whose family lines were fractured by history. Our mission is to provide access, knowledge, and community support so that no story is left untold.
From hidden records to living legacies—we help you uncover the journey.
Strong roots, mighty branches: our family tree.
At Good Genes Genealogy Services (GGGS), we believe every family has a story worth discovering and preserving. Founded in Atlanta in 2021 by maternal cousins Mark Owen and Dr. Ann Lineve Wead Kimbrough, GGGS was created to help individuals and families—especially within the African American and Native American communities—trace their roots, overcome genealogical “brick walls,” and reclaim lost legacies.
With backgrounds in journalism, higher education, project management, public service, and human resources, our team brings both professional expertise and a deep personal passion for ancestry research. Together, we honor the endurance of our ancestors while empowering future generations to carry their history forward.

Reconnecting the diaspora to its roots, one story at a time.
Tracing our African Diaspora and Native American roots takes patience and a lot of digging, but the stories we uncover make it all worthwhile. Because this work is detailed and time-intensive, my project pricing reflects the care it takes to find those hidden records and to make sure your family history is preserved accurately for future generations. I love helping people discover their ancestors and the connections that link past and present family members. Each month, I host free workshops at my home church in Atlanta where the community can come together to learn and share. For those who want a more personal experience, I also offer one-on-one sessions with individuals and families.
We begin with a 30-minute consultation to understand each client’s research goals. During this session, any family documents or prior research provided will be reviewed (as long as they are concise). If records or recordings are extensive, a separate hourly fee will apply. Within 48 hours, clients receive a written research plan outlining recommended baseline exploration methods and next steps.
Projects involving African Diaspora and Native American/Indigenous ancestors often require more intensive research due to incomplete or missing public records. This may involve correlating conflicting evidence, analyzing fragmented resources, and interpreting complex findings.
This work may include tracing ancestors to African tribes, Native American
villages, royal lineages, or other global origins dating back to the 15th century and earlier.
Clients receive a comprehensive research reports including a narrative summary, charts, timelines, maps, and pedigree charts or online family group sheets. Recommendations for further research, along with discussion of unanswered questions, limitations, and suggested next phases. A review session is held in person or virtually.
